Morrow County Courthouse
Important info:  Please do NOT send requests for research, birth/death/marriage certificates, etc. to the Courthouse or to the Board of Health. All requests received by mail, fax, or e-mail are forwarded to the Genealogical Society for handling - which, obviously, slows down the response time. Please send your requests directly to the Genealogical Society: MCGS, P. O. Box 401, Mount Gilead, OH 43338.

The Courthouse is located on the North side of East High Street, one block East of the Victory Shaft. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Courthouse is closed on Monday Holidays. They WILL handle "walk-in" requests and inquiries. Visit them at 48 East High Street, Mount Gilead. They are katty-corner across the street from the Genealogy Annex of the Library. The Board of Health (Health Dept.), is in the Courthouse, second floor.

Early birth and death records (starting about 1867 through 1905), and all marriage records can be found in the Probate Court office on the first floor (419-947-5575). Starting with 1906, birth and death records can be found in the Health Department on the second floor (419-947-1545).

Telephone number: (614) 466-2531. Mailing Address: Ohio Department of Health, Division of Vital Statistics, P. O. Box 15098, Columbus, OH 43215-0098.

The Ohio Historical Society does NOT hold BIRTH records from December 20, 1908 forward. These records remain at the Ohio Department of Health, Division of Vital Statistics, location, address and phone number as shown in the paragraph above.

The Ohio Historical Society has old Ohio newspapers on microfilm that you can order through interlibrary loan at your local library. Here is the link for the Ohio Historical Society's Ohio Newspaper Index searchable database.
