Early birth and death records (starting about 1867 through 1905), and all marriage records can be found in the Probate Court office on the first floor (419-947-5575). Starting with 1906, birth and death records can be found in the Health Department on the second floor (419-947-1545).

Per an August 1, 1997, letter from the Archives/Library Division of the Ohio Historical Society, they now have Ohio death certificates for December 20, 1908 to December 31, 1944. Portions of the Ohio Death Certificate Index (specifically 1913-1937) are available online. All Death Certificates dated later than December 31, 1944, must be obtained through the Ohio Department of Health, Division of Vital Statistics, which is located in Columbus at 35 East Chestnut Street, Sixth Floor. The Ohio Historical Society does NOT hold BIRTH records from December 20, 1908 forward. These records remain at the Ohio Department of Health, Division of Vital Statistics, location, address and phone number as shown in the paragraph above.
