Thanks to James R Carpenter for compiling and donating a book, Lexington Circle, Ohio – the origin of pioneers who homesteaded in Southern Sauk County, Wisconsin, Circa 1845-1865
Synopsis–Two historical sources, published about one-hundred fifty years apart, suggested a geographic commonality between the origins of central Ohio pioneers and their future homes in southern Wisconsin. Starting from within an 800 square mile area centered on the village of Lexington, Richland County, Ohio, these settlers cleared the Wisconsin wilderness and developed farm properties near their former neighbors in a 355 square mile area in eight Sauk County townships. More than eighty percent of the pioneer households were concentrated in three of those eight townships having an aggregate area of approximately 150 square miles. If you think this book might be of assistance in your genealogical research, please stop by our library and ask to see it.
