Land History of Joseph Brown (1816-1893), Martha Elizabeth Shearer (1823-1904), and Their Nearby Descendants in Harmony and Franklin Townships, Morrow County, Ohio, Focusing on 1853 to Present

Introduction–
In about 1853, Joseph Brown, his wife Martha Elizabeth Shearer Brown, and their growing family left south-central Pennsylvania and bought a farm straddling State Route 95 near where it intersects County Road 20, in the northeastern corner of Harmony Township in Morrow County, Ohio. The original 60 acre farm cost Joseph $20/acre. This report documents the earliest land acquisitions and subsequent transfers by Joseph and Martha Brown and their nearby descendants, tracing landownership down to the present day.
