Lewis and Elizabeth THOMPSON moved to Knox Co. from Loudoun County, VA about 1848, but I am told that if any records exist about them and their family they were transferred to Morrow County when it was formed in 1848. Lewis and Elizabeth had two sons, George Washington and John. George joined the 15th Ohio Company C Volunteer Infantry shortly after marrying Margaret Alvina ELDRIDGE on 13 Mar 1865. I believe Margaret was from Morrow County. I would like any and all information on these people and willing to pay for costs of copying etc. TYIA Roger Michels

I am looking for a Darius or Daryus BENSON. All I know is he was born in Morrow County. I think in the town of Cardington. He married Dora SCOFIELD also from Cardington. I know they had a son Otto Elverson born in Morrow County on March 27, 1871 and died August 10, 1935 in Hiawatha, Kansas. Otto had 3 brothers. I have no dates for Darius or Dora. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Tina Murphy, RR2 Box 237, Troy, KS 66087
I am interested in finding out anything I can about the descendants of Seneca SMITH, b?, of Cardington. I know he married Nancy E. WEST and they had 10 children. I know that one was a woman doctor named Florence and the youngest was my Grandfather and namesake, Arthur Anson Smith. My great grandmother Nancy was the daughter of James Rennison West, b 1809 Carlisle, England. Appreciate any help I can get.
According to the 1850 Census, Lewis and Elizabeth THOMPSON and family were living in Franklin Township on #959-987(Lots?). Their children living at the time were: George Washington; John R.; Viola L.; and Mary Jane. According to a cemetery listing sent to me, Lewis, Elizabeth, Mary Jane, and infant son Stephen A. are buried in the North Fork Cemetery located in the town of Blair. George Washington THOMPSON married Margaret Alvina ELDRIDGE (b. 39[?] July 1842, d. 3 Jan 1916) on 13 Mar 1865. Margaret was the daughter of Harvey and Margaret BEERS-ELDRIDGE of either Morrow or Knox County. Harvey ELDRIDGE was born 19 Jul 1797 and died 18 July 1845. Margaret BEERS-ELDRIDGE was born 24 Feb 1806 and died 17 Apr 1880. I am desperate for any information and documentation (have copies of census) on these people and the area where they lived.

Seeking information on Robert ALLEN (1811-1886) and his sister Mary Ann ALLEN (1800-1861). Robert ALLEN was born in West Point, Morrow County, on 15 March 1811. He graduated from West Point Academy, NY in 1836. He served in the Seminole and Mexican Wars. During the Civil War he rose to the rank of Major General and was in charge of supplies for the Western Campaigns throughout the war including the campaigns of Grant and Sherman. He died in Geneva, Switzerland 5 August 1886. Mary Ann ALLEN (my ancestor) was born in Ireland in 1800, married Thomas Bereman of Highland County, Ohio, and died there around 1863. It is possible that their father was named Robert ALLEN or James ALLEN.

I am seeking any information on Dr. J. W. PRATT (1851-1911), first president of Methodist Episcopal Church in Marengo, and his wife, Ella M. NOE, b. 4/4/1853; d. 3/1/1893 in Marengo. They had three daughters: Blanche, Elsye (1883-1962), Edna (1879-1881). Elsye married Burton L. WEST of Marengo. Thank you, Jeff Hagler, 4517 Shoalwood Ave., Austin, TX 78756
I am seeking any information on the WEST or ADELL families from Marengo. William L. WEST (4/5/1863 to March 1940) married Hannah ADELL and had one son, Burton Louis. I believe William's father, Stephen WEST (1841-1875) was married to Maria (?) (1838-1914). Stephen's mother may have been Lou R., who lived from approx. 1815 to 1928. I was told she lived 113 years, at any rate. All of the above were born in Marengo, and all before William are buried there. Thank you, Jeff Hagler 4517 Shoalwood Ave. Austin, TX 78756

Queries for November thru December 1998
The following pages contain the query information and, in many cases, the poster's contact information. However, due to some mysterious glitch, the surname, and researcher contact, information did not post to the Surname Registry and the Researcher Profiles like it did on the previous pages. I am at a loss as to how to fix it.
